1. Operation plan for the period of 2016-2018

a) Objectives:

The organization brand built, technical functions, financing sources and staffing consolidated, to become a place gathering and connecting experts and scientists to involve in the activities of the Institute.

b) Specific activities:

- Establishing a network of experts and scientists specializing in the related areas for the purpose of research, application and implementation of scientific and technological services on environment and earth issues about natural disasters, climate change, environmental disasters and water resources management for social-economic development and environmental protection.
- Working with other organizations of VUSTA upon requested by VUSTA in criticizing and solving issues of life and the society within the assigned functions.
- Developing and and updating a database on disasters and environments as a key priority of the Institute.
- Strenthing relationships with partners including central and local state management agencies, relevant ministries such as Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Science and Technology ...; Red Cross Central Committee, social-political organizations, local and international non-governmental organizations ets. to seek for business opportunities on research, consultancy, training delivery ...
- Promoting cooperation with international organizations and partners to exlore intellectual resources and scienctific and technological advances for application in Vietnam.

2. Operation Plan for the period after 2018

a) Objectives

Continuing to build and strenthen the organization prestige at national and international levels on the areas of earth and environtment sciences, specifically on natural disasters, climate change, environmental disasters, water management for sustainable socio-economic development; and gaining several innitiatives recornized for large scale application.

b) Specific activities

- Establishing a competitive working environment to make RIDES become a permanent pool of prestige and outstanding scientists, intellectuals specialized in relevant areas of specialities.
- Beside traditional partners in phase 1, promoting relationships with national and foreign enterprises in Vietnam for consultancy and assessment services related to sustainable development or business continuity plans (BCP) of the companies. The international partners in the period could be AUSAID, USAID, JICA, UNDP, ...
- Continuing to develop and and update the database on disasters and environemnts as the key priority of the Institute.
- Embarking research activities on hot issues related to the effects of climate change and environmental disasters. Promoting the application and use of modern equipment, technologies and methods in measurement, observation and assessment of environment and natural extreme events.
- Developing, producing new technologies, techniques and equipments as well as transferring  advanced technologies and sciences for application in Viet Nam  for environment protection and cope with climate change.
- Purchasing necessary equipment and machineries for RIDES’s disposal.
