Để chuẩn bị cho hội nghị giao ban toàn quốc 2017 và hội nghị Tôn vinh trí thức KHCN tiêu biểu LHHVN lần thứ 2. Ngày 9/8/2017 tại TP. Hải Phòng, Đoàn Chủ tịch HĐTW Liên hiệp Hội Việt Nam đã tổ chức hội nghị lần thứ 6 khóa VII nhiệm kì 2015 – 2020.

Tham dự hội nghị có 21/25 ủy viên Đoàn Chủ tịch, dưới sự chủ trì của Chủ tịch Đặng Vũ Minh.
Hội nghị đã nghe ông Phạm Văn Tân – Phó chủ tịch kiêm Tổng thư ký LHHVN báo cáo một số hoạt động của ĐCT 6 tháng đầu năm và nhiệm vụ 6 tháng cuối năm 2017. Đồng thời xin ý kiến Đoàn Chủ tịch về việc bổ nhiệm và quy trình thực hiện gioi thieu 02 nhân sự vào vị trí Phó TTK LHHVN. Ngoài ra, ông Phạm Văn Tân cũng trình bày nội dung Chương trình của hội nghị giao ban, tôn vinh trí thức LHH các tỉnh thành phố trực thuộc TW năm 2017.
Cũng tại Hội nghị, ông Phan Tùng Mậu – Phó Chủ tịch kiêm Chủ nhiệm Uỷ ban Kiểm tra LHHVN đã trình bày công tác kiểm tra của LHHVN sáu tháng đầu năm 2017. Trong sáu tháng qua công tác kiểm tra đã có nhiều hoạt động tích cực, kịp thời giải quyết những vụ việc nảy sinh, đề ra hướng giải quyết kịp thời giúp cho các đơn vị trong hệ thống tiếp tục ổn định phát triển.
Các Uỷ viên Đoàn Chủ tịch với tinh thần trách nhiệm cao đã sôi nổi thảo luận những vấn đề vướng mắc, bất cập của các LHH địa phương trong thời gian qua cần được tháo gỡ trong giai đoạn tới để toàn hệ thống LHHVN tiếp tục ổn định và phát triển đúng tinh thần của nghị quyết đại hội VII LHHVN đã đề ra. Các đại biểu hoàn toàn nhất trí với đề án quy trình bổ nhiệm nhân sự vào chức vụ Phó TTK của LHHVN,
